Board Fires Dr. McKnight

Anonymous
That garbage, self-serving, self-praise statement from McKnight just reaffirms how poor of a leader she is. She fails to read the room or hold herself accountable. She's just worried about looking like she did a great job as superintendent when her tenure has been nothing but an ongoing dumpster fire.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I would love to know if this was a unanimous board decision, or if there was disagreement.

I'm sure we're at least paying one year severance. Maybe more if MCPS was worried about a lawsuit.

I wouldn’t say at least that much. They might have settled for as little as 6 months or even less if the redacted stuff in that report was worse than we think. I’d think 6 months would be a good deal for everyone to move on with no further dirt slinging but a year would not totally surprise me. If we paid more than a year I think we got ripped off.

Weren’t there only two years left on her contract?

From that silly lawyer who went on Fox5? Total lightweight.

All I read was "I, I, I, I"
But too late for us, we're out. Bye Mcps.

Given her contract terms gave her 1 year severance, it is hard for me to imagine her agreeing to any less.

A million thank yous to Alexandra Robbins and Nicole Asbury. This would not have happened without your steadfast, continuous, and absolutely fabulous effort to bring the truth to light. This shows why local journalism is so critical. We are indebted to you!!

No doubt that "press conference" hurt more than helped, but she would have gotten real lawyers if she was fired without a settlement.

I complained to the MD OIG and the US Dept of Ed. Reporting got it done. THANK YOU ALEXANDRA AND NICOLE!

For every student that I inspired and served, continue to be and do your best. For every staff member, remember your “why” to fill your cup daily; and to our parents, thank you for entrusting me to serve your children.

This is rich.

Most students don't know her. When I mention her name to my HS DS, he asks me "Who is that?"

Most staff members are not fans of hers. Does she forget that the MCEA gave her a lovely no-confidence vote early in her tenure? And to mention anything about "filling their cup" when her leadership, or lack thereof, was nothing but draining for staff is a slap in the face.

As far as parents, she made many of us regret entrusting our children to MCPS. So she can take her thanks and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

Correct. However, it's clear there was intense pressure from board, and that led to this "conscious uncoupling"

Sh en was obviously going to be fired if she didn’t resign.
