What do I feed people who traveled all day?

Something healthy and fresh. A simple roast chicken makes the house smell great, serve with a salad, baked potato or rice side, some bread or rolls.

I'd do a charcuterie board. Cheeses, fruits, veggies, crackers, dip, etc.

PP adding to the chicken menu…a sheet pan of baked chicken legs, thighs and a few breasts also serves a mixed group well and is very satisfying. Season chicken and roast in the oven. Baked potatoes alongside.

Cheese, crackers, nuts, girkins, olives, salami, hummus, carrots, mini quiches. Cold water, sparkling water, wine, beer.

Please no stew or soup!! That gives your guest no choice to politely decline or just take the one thing they want!

I'd do a taco bar with corn tortillas/shells and they can make it into a salad if they want.

My parents make a crockpot of vegetarian soup for us and have bread a salad available. Always appreciated after crappy fast food on 95.

They are staying in an Airbnb and I took over groceries for the baby. We are in a different part of the country where we have good tacos. So I took over chips and salsa and hummus and veggies. We snacked and then went and picked up tacos. It was perfect.
