Can you clarify this point?

There are always a few posts trying to get others to make room on the waitlist.

Yep, happens like clockwork; someone starts a post to encourage waitlist movement.

I think there are a few schools that are known for being more of a grind - PHS SMCS, RMIB. We have heard mixed reviews about both these programs but have never run in to anyone with regrets about many other programs like Wheaton, CAP, PHS Global.

Very few regrets at Blair magnet, if any

No, especially since mine chose magnets closer to him and with better bys schedules. Oldest really liked one farther away, but I think that would have taken its toll. There was some stress in the program oldest chose. Some competitive culture from students, some tough schedule. But, would have chosen it again. Maybe would have taken study hall fall of sr year (had sports, college apps + 8 period day, and it was a bit much).

Closer to home, not "him!"

There is definitely a lesser connection to the school. My students didn’t /don’t go to many games etc and we live relatively close. Their friends are generally those who went into the magnets from their Ms. They did join the Swim/Dive team and that was very positive. They attended more “home school” games than their magnet school.

35 min commute. Student absolutely loves it. Definitely a great fit. No complaints. No regrets. PHS Global. Most unique HS experience in the country imho.

How do you handle transportation for activities? If your child is a senior did you get them a car?

I did a lot more driving b/c our school didn't have an activities bus that dropped near us. Wish she were driving herself this year, but she still hasn't gotten that license yet!
