Yeah, as if his kids have experienced EVERYTHING in Philadelphia or Richmond. There is also Staunton, Lexington and Charlottesville.

The train can be very cheap if you book far enough ahead. My brother paid just over $100 for 5 from NYC last year

How was the weather when you went? A friend of mine visited a few years ago for spring break and said never again, that it was cold and rainy, and her family was miserable.

Agree with these + Chester County, PA. I want to do Roanoke, VA, but haven't made it yet. If you like museums, Newport News has more than you would think.

It's a little further depending on where you live, but what about the Raleigh/Durham area? They have nice science museums and gardens. I don't have any hotel recommendations.
