I should clarify that in 6th grade, art and computers are all in one class called the integrated arts rotation. They are independent full year courses later. |

Back in the day (5 years ago), they used to not recommend WL to kids under a certain MAP-R score. I don't know if that is where this rec is coming from.
OP, if your kid is really into learning WL, talk to the counselor at the Middle School. Do not waste your time with the ES. |

If your DC is at an IB MYP school, then they must take world language or a reading intervention (including digital literacy).
Otherwise they should choose any 2 more fun electives like performing art/ visual art/ tech. Other intervention classes like SpEd Resource class may take up an elective spot. |
Sorry, meant to say more fun than digital literacy. World languages are excellent choices. I think stretching 1A into a full year is a great option if student is brand new to language. |
