That's not because of higher standards, that's due to the high numbers of struggling students that ACPS both caters to and fails. ACPS has an elementary school that was unaccredited then received provisional accreditation after further lowering standards. UVA sometimes conducts studies on ACPS and releases reports on how shockingly bad the instruction is at some schools.

Don't forget that it puts UMC kids that go to ACHS at a huge advantage when applying to college. On the backs of all the kids who are failed by ACPS.

They do a LOT better in Arlington and Fairfax. And within Alexandria, you have Lyles Crouch blowing every other Alexandria ES out of the water no matter what numbers you look at. Since Alexandria's view of equity is to push everyone down, instead of replicating Lyles Crouch's successes, ACPS will work to destroy the success there and replicate a failed school like George Mason.

I thought I held back by not mentioning your comment that makes Alexandria seem like a poor school district. Alexandria is one of the wealthiest cities in VA so it's not like going out to Fairfax is leaving the inner city for the burbs. ACPS is the way it is because of Alexandrians' lack of concern, not lack of wealth which it has in bucketfuls.
