You have no basis for this assertion. Maybe she was just someone who understands the choice to bring a baby on a plane doesn't trump other passengers' rights.

In her defense, they turned it on because the baby was screaming - they were trying to get the baby to sleep so as to not disturb the other passengers. I'm on her side here. That other passenger was being unnecessarily difficult. A plane is a shared space and we all need to give and take a little, even in 1st class.

Do babies need the white noise on even when they are asleep? It sounds like baby went to sleep but they kept the machine on. If baby is asleep and machine is annoying other passengers, I dont see an issue with someone asking them to turn it off.

People treat planes like it's their personal bedroom and its f*ing annoying. Have you seen the posts about those glowing rainbow cords? Holy F I would lose my mind if I had to sit next to one of those. There are other people on the plane, and they deserve a peaceful flight too.

Planes are loud! Complaining about white noise is ridiculous. And better than hearing a baby cry.

I was on a plane where a 4-5 year cried for TWO hours SCREAMING “I want my daddy”. Mom did nothing to quiet her. I thought a divorce/visitation issue. Plane lands. Turns out the dad was sitting right behind her! That’s something to complain about.

White noise machine and a blackout dark nursery are a new bad habit. At least Kaley didn’t tape Hefty bags to the windows to simulate darkness 😀

I also had this thought, but then I also wonder how loud their white noise machine is that it was audible over the ambient noise on an airplane! I feel like it must have been a really loud device. I had a little portable white noise machine I used for my kid as an infant, that you could clip to the canopy of a car seat or stroller and it would play fairly quietly inside it. I remember using it on walks and probably while sitting out on a patio or at a park. I never used it on a plane but I'd be surprised if it would be audible to others over the plane noise.

Though if I did use it and someone complained, I would of course turn it off. I just think they must have been using a really loud machine for someone to hear it and complain.

Yeah all if this. I'm torn here but also a little confused lol. In the article the mom always refers specifically to a "sound machine", not white noise machine, which makes me wonder if it was playing more than just a fan kind of sound. Many of them play weather/rain, maybe music sounds etc. Also wonder how loud it was for anyone to even notice it..

Nope. You know nothing about the passenger and what she "clearly" was or wasn't. I guess I'm team "the entire plane doesn't revolve around one family or one child only". If the machine was bothering another passenger, that's valid too. As someone who has noise/ sensory issues that make it difficult to just go out in publc sometimes, I'm getting very tired of constantly being told that people like me don't matter and aren't worthy of consideration if there's a child nearby.

How awkward is it going to be as their kid later in life when she Googles and finds out that for years her mom didn't even want kids. Like, actively talked about not wanting kids in many interviews.
