Why are people cycling down Connecticut Avenue blaring music tonight?

Bah! Humbug!

Seems like it would be hard to coordinate a big group ride like that if the procession kept getting split up at red lights and stop signs.

I mean, you’re not going to get hundreds of riders through an intersection on a single stoplight-cycle. Some f the group is going to have to wait at the red light.

Perhaps our resident cycling advocates here can explain how a group this size stays together while following traffic laws.

Some splinter off. The big group? We plug the intersections so it can proceed.

It’s urban vibrancy, Hon.

Really? Sounds lame to me. Seems boring to participate in, and inconsiderate to anyone able to hear it.

They should all be driving illegal ATVs or driving Dodge Charger or similar muscle cars with tuned up exhausts and vulgar rap blaring on their souped up stereos. That would be preferable, right?

Oh, so in other words it’s a lawless mob that just does whatever it wants. Everyone else is expected to follow traffic laws and defer to keep the mob of violators safe. Got it.

I think that sums up cyclists perfectly, actually. I appreciate your candor and honesty.

Good! This is no different than "Joe Jams" and other political convoys, so DC should be used to it. Also this sounds much more fun. Are there costumes? Consider costumes and throwing candy to make it even better. (Same note to politicians).

I mean, it’s basically the same thing, isn’t it?

What’s the functional difference between a group of cyclists acting as scofflaws and disrupting traffic, and a group of ATV riders acting as scofflaws and disrupting traffic? There is none.

In fact, at least the ATV riders are faster, and spend less time inconveniencing everyone else.

Oh, but remember when those trucker protests were happening and they drove laps around the beltway? DCUM wanted the the police to machinegun them.

Quite the inconsistency, wouldn’t you agree?

DCUM no such thing. DCUM laughed itself silly at them. They spent money on gas to drive around the Beltway; discovered that they weren't in traffic, they were traffic; and complained because people were mean to them. Then they drove back to their campground in Hagerstown and argued with each other.

Bunch of obnoxious a-holes who like running stop lights and signs.

Cyclists consistently underestimate the amount of road rage they cause. A cyclist friend of mine found out the hard way. Spend almost month in the hospital after getting beaten to a pulp by a driver they confronted.
