Sick like a cold/respiratory virus or sick like stomach flu/digestive illness? These are two very different conditions for which I’d recommend very different menus. Chicken soup is probably the one food I’d recommend for both.

OP here. Good question. We all had/have stomach/gi illness.

But I appreciate and am noting all of these suggestions!

Something gooey and mild like fettuccine alfredo.

For stomach/gi: plain bread, apples, ginger tea, expanding to add peanut butter if no one throws up

For cold/snotty: soup of any kind, citrus of any kind, ginger tea with honey, cinnamon tea, yogurt with maple syrup

yogurt/yogurt smoothies/kefir for probiotics

Honestly, whether it’s a cold or a GI issue, I want Chinese (takeout in my case, as I don’t make it at home) as I start to recover from anything.
