How to Vet a Real Estate Agent?

Anonymous
I would also ask about any expertise/skills they have, unrelated to the actual real estate transaction.

For example, we eventually settled on an agent that had previously been a home inspector. He was careful to stress that he would not serve in that role during the time, but that when we visited a house, he would peel off while we toured it to inspect the basement, kitchen, attic, etc.

I found it very helpful

Ignore people who are fixated on commission.
