It is a little bit of an issue, but you just have to see how the friends and "friend groups" evolve.

For our kids school, the friends are everywhere from Gathersburg to Fairfax and NW DC, so there is a fair amount of driving for the high schoolers, but at least they get to know the Beltway and 270 a bit.

Its fine for school day to day but socially it’s a pain. Even once kids begin to drive. Imagine what it looks like when you kid and friends want to go to the movies at 8pm. Or want to attend the Saturday football game that starts at 10am. Or go to homecoming. Everything has to be really coordinated. There’s no hey keys go for Boba or meet at the library to study without effort.

Your kid is going to need to be near the top of their class with stellar SATs to even have a shot at an Ivy. I would argue this will be easier at Burke than an MPCS school.
