I know several brilliant and successful people who display the same behavior. It's good thing!!

This. I don't know how OP got to "what is wrong with my child" so quickly.

My kid with Autism loves movies and we see Broadway shows. Why does everyone think Autism?

I have a hard time sitting through most movies. I want to just be doing something.
Your child may mature out of it also. Sitting and watching something for 1 1/2 takes getting used to.

Being entertertained is a waste of time? Bah humbug, right? Its ok not to like what others do but it does not make you a better person..lol

I don’t particularly like sitting there for 2 hours watching any movie. I’m fine with a tv show, they are shorter. One of my kids is like this. The other seems to enjoy movies and watches them more frequently with DH. I’ll put sports games on tv in this category too. It’s not relaxing and just too long to sit there.

What does “Magna cum Laude graduate everywhere” mean?

It means she did very well in school. Latin honors are usually bestowed upon top graduates.
But Magma is lower than Summa

So she does sit there 10 times a year and watch a movie? That sounds fine. Why does she HAVE to watch movies?

Mine is 7 and watches a whole movie maybe 3x per year. Sometimes we break one movie into two viewings. I’ve never been worried.

Who cares.

If anyone tries to make me watch White Christmas three times a year, that would turn me off of movies too. That movie is awful.

Lots of kids (and adults) with adhd don’t want to watch movies which are hours long!

But my guess is that your autistic kid just wants to focus on those movies or shows which he/she has a personal interest in and doesn’t enjoy watching random things suggested by others

My two brilliant and well adjusted DCs also have not been fans of going to the movies. They don’t like being in the dark and how loud the sound system is. We have been a family of Netflix watchers.

OP is overreacting. If not like movie watching is a sign of something being wrong w a child, then op is in for a world of hurt when puberty hits. Op, relax and just let your child be.
