OP is right. |
| Look into whether losing his coverage is a qualifying life event. --Not a federal employee, just a guess to try |
| OP’s husband is not going to recreate COBRA paperwork because he didn’t lose insurance; he voluntarily dropped the plan. They should’ve enrolled in his plan for 2024 and then dropped it when OPs coverage started (this would’ve been a qualifying event). |
That should be he won’t receive paperwork. OP, your husband should talk to his HR people. If an employee came to me with this issue, I’d go ahead and enroll him (even though it’s after OE) and then drop him under qualifying event once he presented proof of new coverage. |

My husband was able to talk to HR yesterday and the previous pp was right- it’s not a cobra event. Apparently we should not have dropped his insurance during open enrollment.
I’m super frustrated because I don’t know how we could possibly have understood that by paperwork alone. So, I think we just have to hope for the best for two weeks and no risky activities. |
| Haha Fed HR were the literally worst. Total morons. |
| OP I’m in the same boat. Did you find any good options? |
