i feel like we should bill the insurance companies for this work as well

Now do you understand why doctors are so frustrated too? They have to have full time staff on hand to do this. The insurance companies intentionally deny claim with the hopes that many will not refile or dispute the denial. It’s actually how they train their claim processors. I worked in a Doctors office that submitted on behalf of patients and it is tedious thankless work. An uphill battle just to get paid for an office visit can take three or four attempts.

I agree. Maybe they wouldn’t be so quick to deny claims and make the process extremely difficult for people.
Insurance companies count on patients not receiving all of the benefits they’re owed in my opinion.

I have a chronic illness and so I have been filling paperwork and checking EOBs and tracking deductibles and max OOPs and allowable amounts for my entire adult life.

Maybe I should start a side hustle…

Me too! I’m had a special needs child that had a lot of out of network providers

Did anyone say anything productive on how a peeson could make this their side hustle. Is there a class/certificate program? I would love to do this and get paid! I have 15 years experience doing this for my family of 5 with so many out of network providers for special needs etc. Ready, willing and able to take this on to help another family and make some money for myself.

Use a HMO like Kaiser. No paperwork.

It’s not just your opinion. It is documented that insurance companies instruct their low level claims people to deny most initial claims, regardless of substance, with the expectation that a huge percentage of people won’t bother appealing. That is their business model.

Not sure if anyone is still looking at this, but I was hoping to get similar answers. I did NOT expect for the judgement and solutions that do not fit the question.

Glad that it takes you a few minutes. Glad that you just have to file in this order bla bla.

I’m not sure why people chose to respond to this forum with unhelpful and judgey comments.

My mom actually started a business doing this like 20 years ago (in another part of the country). Many of her clients were older people who found the process of filing (and following up on, and appealing) claims overwhelming and stressful.
