I'm overhearing two dads next to me at a coffee shop

Yikes, so many nasty people on here.

It's wholesome and charming, OP, and would be if it was two mothers talking.

I’m a teacher in an elementary school. I brought my DS to school today on the last day before break. He was so surprised that all of the teachers and admin knew who he was and told stories about him.

They're literally 1ft from me if that. The one is sitting next to me on a bench.

Lovely. Nice to remember the joy and pride one has for our loved ones, especially our kids.

There was a Dunks up the street from where I lived and my dad and a bunch of other dads in town would meet there on the weekends for coffee. I was home from college break once and not only did they bring up things he'd told them about me, but the workers did too!

Haha I love this. What is it with dads sharing all about their kids?

I remember when I was in law school everywhere we’d go in my hometown my dad would be sure to let people know I was going to be a lawyer (I’m embarrassed about it now, but it was sweet). And once we went out to a Mexican restaurant when I was maybe 12-13 weeks pregnant with my first, he had to make sure to announce to every hostess/server/busboy that he was going to be a grandfather.

The funny thing is, if this were my husband, he would sound the exact same way about our son, and it would all be one big lie.

The hilarious thing is those kids will come home and sleep until 3 p.m. and go out with friends. They'll leave dirty dishes all over the house, etc.

Ask me how I know!

How do you know?

This is so wholesome. Thank you for sharing op.

They've been sharing what their kids are studying, what internships they're doing, how they will (or may not) successfully fly the coop after this year, what an empty house will feel like, and they're both just like oozing with this wholesome pride.

My kids are little, but dang it's such a nice reminder that they will eventually be grown and find their place in the world.

That's sweet but it may take more than 30 years to find their place in the world and until then you are stuck with them.

Oh there you are. Doom and gloom.
