OP did not ask for your salary, the average salary. Another slow one. |
| mine makes 100K plus bonus, equity and fully paid health benefits, in Baltimore, in Private Equity |
Fairly common track in this area. DMV is a very ambitious region, best public and private schools in the U.S., with the highest concentration of lawyers (parents) in the U.S. Plus proximity to T14s GULC, UVA Law, and Penn Law. And GW Law isn't bad. |
I guess my point was the OP was not asking how much the average first-year associate, just-out-of-school makes. But whatever. And Arlington Public Schools are so overrated, IMO. |
My 24yo earns $185k (cash) not including equity. But this is definitely an outlier - has a CS degree. |
| I started in the 80’s as a government contractor in the tech field, switched to private tech company and was in the low 200’s by my mid 20’s. That’s not average though. |
I gotcha. I was just posting one data point. Growing up UMC in the Beltway with a lawyer parent, not uncommon to go straight to law school after college and be a first year law firm associate making big bucks by age 25. |
| The 25 year olds at my firm are making about $100k. Econ and accounting and finance majors. |
| The 25 year olds that work for me make $80-90K and I'm pretty pissed about it because I make twice as much at age 45. They'll surpass me in salary in less than 10 years. |
160-180k is still not shabby, you are doing great pp. Chin up. |
| We hire 25 year olds, but they have masters in public health. They start at about $65k. |
Is going straight to undergrad common? I just read a few of the Ivies’ law school data on current 1Ls and only 12%-15% of class arrives straight from undergrad, most have at least two years’ work experience. |
| *from not to undergrad |
| A good friend is a career coach and after people on here said ridiculous things like starting salaries are 200K I asked what she sees. 60K at best. |
BS. Friend made 115K starting. I made more in pharma sales than she did. |
