| Older son was in 9th grade, age 14. It’s been a year and he hasn’t lost them, miraculously. We have a 6th grader, age 11 and he will wait until at least 8th. Right now he has over the ear type. He said the in ear type hurts his ears anyway, so it wasn’t a battle. |
How did AirPods cause hearing loss? Did you sleep listening to music? Or just having them in your ears every night cause hearing loss? |
| My 12 year old has SkullCandy ear buds that he bought for himself at Best Buy. They work really well and he’s not lost them. |
| My 13 year old got them for a 12th birthday gift. And did lose them 3 months later. The find my app was showing them at a shopping center nearby where we looked but couldn’t find them. She spent her own money on a second set and then we found the old set months after that when she and her sister were rearranging their room, it wasn’t at that shopping center after all. So now she has two pairs that she routinely loses and finds again. |

My non-popular answer - when they can pay for them themselves.
Otherwise you get cheap knock offs. Airpods are lost and stolen all the time. |
| Mine has had them since he was 9 or 10. He's good about not losing things and uses them for watching videos on his iPad or listening to audiobooks (not usually music, so I worry less about hearing). Seems fine. |
