Toe walking?

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Please google it.

Op here: thanks but I’m 99.9% sure this isn’t it. I have a friend who’s son has that and besides the occasional toe walking, he has no signs. My son started walking at 14 months and walked completely normal but recently started the occasional toe walking while wearing no shoes (he doesn’t do it in shoes).

My son walked on his tip toes around that time. It was occasional and lasted maybe 6 weeks.

I agree with the PP that this can be a sign of some kind of sensitivity to their environment but it's not automatically a sign of autism. Though it makes sense that a lot of kids with ASD toe walk because being highly sensitive to environment is a common ASD trait.

I toe walked as a kid (actually well into elementary school) and my kid did too (as a toddler, it stopped on its own). I think it's possible we might have a very mild form of autism but if so, it's never been diagnosed or made it hard for us to function in the world. I think we're both just kind of sensitive people and might be more reactive to certain stimuli than other people are. It's really not that big of a deal and not something to panic over.
