help me style this dress for a "California formal" wedding

I was thinking sheer white shawl wrap and a wedge with matching clutch. Hair worn in body wave. With side pinned accessories.

Unless your hair is black then I’d go sheer black shawl and black high heeled flip flop mules with a bronze clutch

The pattern has that sort of mud cloth look to it which is super casual, but rendered in a fancy material becomes — to me— California formal with the right accessories. Of course I am from Connecticut! I My sister dressed for a similar wedding in a redwood forest recently and ended up with full sleeves and a high slit. But that’s not beachy California.

Me again— my younger SIL works in Hollywood and wears her Hollywood clothes on the east coast (outside nyc) and visibly shocks onlookers. I know she is the height of fashion but fashion is always relative. Stay true to your style. You aren’t going to look like you are from California but you can still look amazing.

Now I want to know what your sister wears!

I love it, but you need to really elevate with the accessories. If it were me, I would probably do it with hair up and statement earrings.

As far as shoes go, you'll want heels for sure -- the sandals the model is wearing make it look super casual, almost resort -- and I'd say black is easiest, but a metallic could work if you find the right thing. As far as jacket goes, you are really just going to have to look, look, look until you find something that works. This metallic one might look great, but it's expensive AF: https://www.neimanmarcus.com/p/ramy-brook-wren-metallic-single-breasted-blazer-prod264880219?childItemId=NMT54PG_&msid=4632859&navpath=cat000000_cat000001_cat58290731_cat77190754_cat77260741&page=0&position=18
