Is Semi-G gonna cause inequity in appearances? The off label use of Ozempic ethical issue no one mentions

The bigger ethical issue will be if addressing obesity helps to extend people’s lives and one group benefits most from that life extension. It’s very dystopian to think about a world where life expectancy for whites is 95 and for African Americans it’s sixty.

Ozempic’s patent expires in 2031. By 2032 there will be $50ish a month generics available, and insurance will start widely covering them.

So there is a very real possibility that a decade from now obesity across all classes in America will be significantly less common.

They're not known and couldn't be. Also, many sized 6, 8, etc are taking it to "just get back to my normal size" referring to the size they were at 17.

DP. Ozempic induces gastroparesis. Usually it is mild.

I have a DD who suffered from severe gastroparesis, throwing up some 30 times a day. I had to become reconciled to the possibility of her death as her BMI sunk below 16. Fortunately, great medical treatment at JHU saved her, but she still has it mildly.

If you have had first hand experience with severe GP, you would never take a chance of getting it.

Many (though not all, some people are just thin) of the Hollywood actresses and models who are size 0s before Ozempic we're doing unhealthy, damaging things to their body to achieve that look. You think because now people are doing it with a medication it's suddenly fine? No. This whole thing is going to backfire just like it dies every time we adopt a collective eating disorder.

Semaglutide has been used for nearly 2 decades. One of the side effects (reported in Aug) is a 20% decrease in the risk of stroke, heart attack and heart disease.

As someone who is overweight, and developed high cholesterol, and has a family history of stroke...I am on Wegovy, have lost nearly 30 lbs so far, will be rechecking the cholesterol next week (hoping it's down!), and have low-to-no side effects. It's been amazing for me!
