virtual reality headset -- OK for an 11-year-old if limited to 30 minutes, and just a few times each week?

Skyzone has a VR station. Tickets/passes to that, would help make sure your kids don't use it more than healthy and its use is always combined with real-life exciting physical activity.

Same- he only wants to play gorilla tag on it when his friends are on (there's a way to just play with friends and not strangers!) - but you should prep him for requests and questions. My DS has some snappy answers and shuts people right out.
