Postpartum Fatigue

Anonymous
OP, i have kids the same ages and while I’m tired, I’m not existentially so. It does sound like something is going on. I did have anemia during both pregnancies, and I felt the way you described. An iron supplement helped me immensely, and my iron levels were back up to normal by the time I gave birth both times. To maintain it, I try to be sure to eat tons of leafy greens and have increased my meat consumption.

Get iron checked and don’t hesitate to do an infusion if it’s low it’s worth the $.

Took me about 6 months of getting 8 hours of sleep a night before I felt better. And my kids were STTN by 3 months. Some people just need more sleep than others. I had gotten to the point where it wasn't safe for me to drive because it affected me so much.

But yes, low iron, low vitamin D and vitamin b can do this too.

Get a B12 shot too.

OP here. Thanks everyone for weighing in. Blood work revealed I am “critically” low in Vitamin D and slightly anemic; no issues with thyroid (although they did not run the full panel). Am on a healthy dose of OTC Vit D, Vitamin C-Iron, and K2. Will give it a month to so and see if that helps, otherwise I’ll ask for additional tests to be run.

If that doesn’t help, have them run a full thyroid panel.
