Husband and I (alone, no kids, so can't speak to that aspect of things) took a Royal Caribbean cruise from Baltimore to Bermuda 3 years ago. Was SUPER convenient (drove up to NJ to drop our son at my in-laws and then back down to get on the ship), BUT, I wouldn't do it again because we were so disappointed in the boat. It was really old and run down, the food was crappy, and we were underwhelmed by Bermuda (we weren't even doing it for Bermuda per se, just to get away, but it didn't add anything to the trip). We have cruised before, in Florida, on Disney, just the two of us (pre-kid), and even though the price is so much more and the hassle with getting to Florida, I'd be hard pressed to waste vacation time and any money on another Royal Caribbean from Baltimore.
Now, my in-laws have done RC cruises from NYC and (I think) Bayonne, NJ, and the ships have been larger and nicer, so that really would be something to look at carefully. |

we just got back from our 4days Bahamas cruise, July 19-23 at Norwegian Sky from port miami..( we did visit disneyworld Orlando the days before). It was me,husband and my 6yrs old. It was our first cruise trip and we dont have any idea yet how is it, but we had so much fun. My daughter loves the KIDS Krew, we paid 6$ if she stays there after 1030pm (which she did for the 4nights we were there, yeah she just loved it). They have a lot of entertainment on board the whole time, stand up comedy show, live bands, jazz/latin dance, karaoke, lively shows and alot more! The food was great, our cabin was always cleaned they cleaned twice a day. The crew were so accomodating, their private island Great stirrup cay was awesome!
From a first timer here, we had a blast and we are already planning our next cruise!!! another Norwegian or Disney cruise yay, cant wait. |

Just got back today from Carnival Pride cruise leaving in and out of Baltimore. We had fun.
BUT, my 3 year old would NOT go in the camp. He clung to us the whole time and the staff doesn't have a lot of patience for this. So, make sure your kids will if you are counting on this. FYI, there are also times the camp isn't open and it doesn't open until 10:00 am every day. Also, food was not great and lots of lines for things, including food and getting onto the boat. Pools - the "kids pool" is really like a baby pool the size of a bathtub. the other pools are really shallow around the perimeter and deep in the middle. so, my 6 year old couldn't find a comfortable amount of water to swim in. |
