Not really. It's all about whether or not you (legacy) want to mention it in the specific essay for this. Otherwise, the readers do not know you are a legacy.


Who knows how they will view the info though. They won’t report it anywhere because it’s just part of the holistic review. And unlike some schools, UVA doesn’t score each part of the application or weight parts more or less. They just read the whole app and make a decision. No one is giving a numerical value. So whether legacy or race gets a bump will never be known. And unlike race, the numbers will never even be reported because they aren’t collecting any data on legacy anymore.

I’ve heard historically OOS Legacy has a similar acceptance rate to in-state.
