| I live in a very blue collar neighborhood and everyone has shiny new vehicles in the driveway and home improvement projects galore. |
Our wages are not up either. |
How is bringing in new, low paid workers helping to raise wages? |
Where are these workers? Everywhere around me has help wanted signs and is understaffed. |
| Reckless government spending is the reason for inflation. |
NYC issued worker permits for illegal immigrants. Didn't work though, the immigrants prefer the free money. |
Price gouging is the reason for inflation. |
If there wasn’t gobs of money printed there wouldn’t be any to gouge. The government is in a spending spree and borrowing like a drunken sailor spewing money everywhere from illegal housing to Ukraine to Israel .. |
Whose wages ARE up? |

Umm, we just had what they were calling the great resignation. People were quitting jobs at historically high rates for better and higher paying jobs. Almost everyone I know changed jobs at least once in the last 2 years. I got a 25% increase, and an even bigger increase in bonus. I have a few friends that changed jobs twice for increases. It was a historic time to make a job move for more $$ and a higher title, similar or even better than the late 90s .com boom. |
I don’t live in NYC. Most Americans don’t live in NYC. There aren’t a flood of immigrants in my community, but we could probably use some. We have lots of openings. |
If you gouge, then demand for the product or service goes down. Explain that. |
| Prices go up 30% . Purchases go down 20%. Overall amount spent is up 4%. |
I changed jobs twice in the past year. Now making 50% more than I made in December 2022. First job change was for 10% bump, lateral move. Second job change was a huge promotion into an executive position with a big salary increase. |
