Military family here - highly recommend calling the school liaison office on JBAB, and they can walk you through the process. They were very helpful before we moved to DC. Living on JBAB you have some school choice, but that doesn’t apply if you live off base in DC. There is a way to apply without an address and accept a spot before arriving. We found our child’s school to be very flexible and accommodating given our circumstances. Good luck!

Move to NOVA. Very few people stationed at McNair live in the city and they definitely don't send their kids to the schools.

There's a special bus that goes from JBAB to Hyde Addison in Georgetown. Hyde Addison has traditionally been the school of choice for military families in DCPS. The school is PK3 through 5th. There's some sort of soft agreement between JBAB and OSSE with giving preference to JBAB families.
