honestly, i don't understand what the fuss is. by giving these students a VIP tour, Yale has the opportunity to receive lots of money in donor gratitude or strengthen pre-existing donor relationships. this can only benefit existing students, whether in the creation of a new library or enhanced financial aid or whatever it is they choose to spend their money on.

i dont see how this is any different from their YES likely letter program. DS received a LL and also got to have a "VIP tour" at Yale. if you have something special to offer them, then they'll make the time for you. nothing wrong about it.
