Sea Island Cloisters in December

Why don’t they want to go ? Maybe we can help you sell the idea.

OP — definitely reserve kayaking and horseback riding right away if interested. They book up fast. We loved the nature exploration and birding with a guide. Ride bikes to St. Simons and eat lunch at Porch.

And don’t let that pp scare you off! I’ve stayed on Sea Island many times in my life, as did my parents and their parents before them, and we are not a-holes.

We adored our spring trip but the place is full of people like the PP who have been going for ages and feel like they own the place.

+1. Now you know.

Yuck

Insufferable

Why is it insufferable to make sure OP knows the correct name so she won’t look stupid walking around calling it the wrong name?

Ask sea island to send you the weekly brochure on activities.

Here are some examples

Riflery
Horseback riding
Cooking classes
Cookie decorating
Teen spa appointments
Tennis clinics
Yoga
Marsh kayaking
Cycling

LMAO that this is top of PP’s list for activities for kids and teens!

Why? It’s a popular activity and something new and different to do. Didn’t you ever do riflery at summer camp?

+1
Didn’t you or your kids ever do riflery at camp? We are as liberal as they come and would never own a gun, but love the riflery at sea island. It’s one of the first things my kids ask to sign up for.
We do go there once or twice a year and love it, but the families like the one who corrected you on cloister are fairly insufferable and prevalent. Another issue is they sold a bunch of memberships to people who do not own property on island, so you get a bunch of families from Atlanta who bought much cheaper property on st Simon’s and sea island club memberships, so they come and camp out at the beach club all day. It’s way more crowded than it was pre-covid.

It won’t be warm but if you just want family fun look at Woodloch pines in the Poconos, wonderful and not stuffy

It's not the PP. I promised to take the kids on a big vacation. The Cloister was not what they had in mind. I will probably take them later next year.

The old school snootiness is part of the charm people! Honestly OP, it's a lovely resort and there are things to do but if you are an "action Jackson" type, it's not for you. Things DO move slower down there and they prefer it that way.
