We just had ours before Thanksgiving break. They asked us what we were most proud of in our daughter; why we liked the school; and if we had any questions. It was straight forward and easy. We are applying from another well known school. No top hats, monocle, or envelopes of cash required. I'm fairly confident our kid will get in.

Did you make it to the second round of interviews?

Is there really a second round?

It’s a good sign if the interviewer gives you their business card/contact info. In case YOU have questions later for them Vs. “we’ll be in touch.”

I thought the phrase was " BigThree "?

Does five mean Sidwell, GDS, and the three Cathedral schools? ( 2 + 3 = 5?)

Pull out a cigar and slowly smoke it throughout the interview to show them how calm and relaxed you are. If they say anything about it, make sure to have extras in your pocket and offer them a few choices.

Everyone is so rude. Please ignore. Parent interviews are mostly informative but they do screen out potential problem parents. Avoid calling your child gifted and you are looking for an education to support his/her that is rigorous enough. That will sink you every time. Just be nice and easy to be with and it will be fine.

Stop trying to make "Big X" happen.

Just be a legacy whose parents are paying the tuition, and you’re a shoo-in.

Oh lighten up. We’re not being rude. It’s a ridiculous question and just having fun with it.

There’s 2 Cathedral schools. BVR doesn’t count since it’s so limited in early grades. Definitive list is Sidwell, GDS, BIM, STA and NCS.

Talk about how your family likes to help your community - soup kitchens, etc.

Make eye contact and keep shoulders up high. Sit up straight.

Wear a Cartier Love bangle stack and bring your Birkin Bag. I suggest casual Chanel clothing. Avoid anything Balenciaga. Good luck.

Get a great blow out beforehand.

It’s not a ridiculous question. If OP had left off the “Big 5” and just asked how to prepare for a parent interview, people would have been way more helpful. Just because people think the “big whatever” designation is ridiculous (and I’m one of them), doesn’t mean the OP isn’t worthy of an actual response. Almost every parent going into the parent interview process for the very first time was probably nervous and/or looking for info about what to expect. Cut OP a break, ffs.

Definitive list is actually Sidwell, GDS, Bullis, STA and NCS. (Never heard of "BIM")

There is no definitive list, you’re all twats, and this is why no one takes anything seriously when the question includes “big 3/5”.

Here you go PP. For your reading pleasure:

BIM is Basis Independent McLean and is the #1 private high school in the DMV. #7 in the country. But #300 as ranked by the DMV country club crowd that’s upset with such a newcomer surpassing their alma maters is such a short time.

You’re welcome.
