How much did your TG pie cost?

Whatever the price of the fruit was. The other staples I always keep on hand, so I don't really factor those in.

Storebought pie crust is the crust of sadness. And the filling is always too sweet for my taste. They often look gorgeous (fancy basketweaves and decorations are not my strength), but the hassle of going to get them and the price charged really turn me off.

That's how much the farmstand in my neighborhood charges - I buy two, an apple and a fruit of the forest pie, someone else makes pumpkin - and they have tons of filling and the most delicious crust I've had since my grandmother stopped baking hers from scratch.

The cost of ingredients, most of which I already had.

I come from a European city known for its pastries/cakes. Some of my favorite store-bought desserts there cost a heck of a lot more than €35!

+1 And Kroger's had Sweet Potatoes/Yams for 0.25/lb. Score!

People drove from miles around to buy these pies, there was a line out the door before Thanksgiving, everyone just had to get one of these wonderful pies before they sold out.

The WaPo sent out a reporter to find the secret recipe and it turned out that the market was selling...heated up Marie Callender pies. Does anyone remember this article? Probably was in the Style section in the 90s.

Was it mom's pies in leesburg va? There was some scandal and rumors of pictures of the pie delivery there. Quite scandalous for leesburg.

Already had all the ingredients except pecans, canned pumpkin and evaporated milk - so about $10 for ingredient for two homemade pies (with homemade crust) made by my teens. Hope they taste as good as they look!
