That said, wowza were we shocked at the price tag. We're also looking at composite. I'm a seasoned homeowner so already knew it was going to be expensive but was not expecting the quote we got. Thankfully ours is not a must-do project yet, we can keep our current windows for the time being which is what we'll be doing for sure!

Anderson is a total rip off. Go with someone local

NP. Is it better to get Anderson windows through someone local? ie are the windows themselves a rip-off or is it getting them directly from Anderson that is the problem?

So I have some older Anderson windows but the contractor I trust recommended a local window manufacturer for the value and the windows were very, very nice!

Which manufacturer?

Was it Vinyl Lite?

To be honest get a quote Home Depot or Lowe’s first as low pressure. Or a local guy.

Window Nation, Anderson Renewal and Thompson Creek are high pressure salesmen.

Home Depot and Lowes product offerings are mediocre...at best in the vinyl products and while the wood products can be decent, their control and management of the subs is questionable at best. They don't know who is gonna be at your home and the install feedback on big orange and big blue is very hit or miss.
