Dutch oven?

I have a Le Creuset but I've never had another brand so don't know if it's worth the cost. It was Christmas present. And, yes, it's worth it. It makes everything taste objectively better.

Ridiculous that a brand makes it taste better. Insane

Note that you can't put the Le Creuset oven in the dishwasher. We actually did have to discard our original one, because DH burned the bottom badly (they may have a warranty, I'm not sure, we didn't bother). But we got a larger one (by then we had two kids), and use it fairly often for family meals.

Things to know: if you want to use it in oven, get the one with the cover that doesn't have a plastic/rubber handle, or else you can't use the cover in the oven.

It is heavy.

It is most perfect for slow-braising foods on the stove. But if you use a slow-cooker, I think it may be redundant. You can also use it for soups.

I put mine in the dishwasher all the time. Why would you not be able to?

I have a different French brand, starts with an F. Excellent quality, had it for years. Staub is also excellent.

I really like my Staub.

The 9-qt gets used for larger gatherings. The 15-qt is just a showpiece. It is impossibly heavy to lift when full of food.

The 15qt is supposed to be great for cooking turkeys.

I have a 13 qt massive one that I make enormous pots of chili, marinara, soups, gumbos, etc. I have three boys between 11 and 17 plus my DH. I make bread in the winter. It is fantastic for steaming corn, crab legs, and clams too.

I use my 4.5 and 7 quart ones the most. I love my Le Creuset collection, the food comes out beautifully and the cookware lasts forever.

I am the dissenter- I just don’t get the hype. I had a non Le Creuset Dutch oven and gave it to my son. The thing was HEAVY!

I loved my Le Creuset. I handle broke off when my kid dropped it, so I replaced it with a Lodge. It turns out I just like the enameled pot- I can not tell the difference cooking

Can these be used on an induction cooktop?

I just checked the Le Creuset website, and you're right! I don't know why I thought you could not.

I have one from a brand I can’t name, but bought from Kohls, that has held up very well. I also have a cuisinart one— smaller size— that I bought at Home Goods. It developed a chip then hole in the bottom and cuisinart sent me a brand new one for free. I was impressed.
If I were buying brand new today I might look at a Lodge.
