Process/timing for girls' college soccer recruitment?

I will add that the transfer portal and the new (preliminarily approved) 28 player roster cap is and will continue to make it more difficult for HS kids to get onto a college team (esp. P4/5 D1 programs). There were an insane number of players in the portal this year and more international players every year. We know a number of kids who had verbally committed to D1 programs, shut down recruiting and then lost their offer as a result of the roster caps. College teams will definitely still be looking for incoming freshman every year. It's just gotten more difficult now.

DMV club parents are generally not honest about recruitment for their daughters. There is a huge difference between being recruited by a D1 school with significant scholarship money AND a real shot to make an impact in college VS. pushing every angle under the sun to try and get a roster spot. It's hard to spend 5 to 7K a year for 6 years in the ECNL and then realize your daughter is not being "recruited" which I totally get, but some of these "recruitments" are manufactured by parents are very used to getting what they want for their kids.

Just went through the process and not at our club. I have heard this but really have not seen it. Recruiting has been straight up. All but a few at the bottom of the roster were recruited. The bigger issue for kids playing ECNL and to some degree GA is where do they want to play/where would they go. There are a lot of colleges that these girls would not go to even as D1 and even with money because of academics.

I guess I would ask --- how do these people manufacture recruitments/get spots?
