it's something my kids do abroad. basically - 4 rounds of contests, first round is school grade (e.g. grade 6) level, 2-3 hours for 5 problems each round, some percentage advances to the next round. they have many more subjects in middle school (math, 2 foreign languages, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, history, art, music, computer science and 2 more) than in the US. each of those subjects has their own competition that starts at the school level and goes to the state level. the oldest is pretty good at those so far. |
