| Isn’t Denison second tier? |
Yes, but 2nd tier is a reach for some kids. Gasp! |
Depauw is the only school on this list that is remotely like Dennison in terms of culture and vibe. Allegheny is in a shopworn little rust belt town and has a much more regional student body. Wooster and Lawrence are quirkier, more intellectual and less pre-professional. The same for OWU, only its stats are significantly lower. St. Lawrence has the preppy/sporty vibe going for it, but it's in the absolute middle of nowhere on the Canadian border. Aside from Depauw, the schools you should be looking at if you want Dennison but easier to get into are Rhodes, Forman, Wofford, and the aforementioned Gettysburg and Rollins. |
And? |
| Gettysburg and Depauw |
This is super helpful. Thanks! |
I agree but think St. Lawrence is closer to the Denison vibe than Lawrence is. Syracuse if you want to go bigger. |
I agree with the poster above. Besides the Midwest location, many of the schools previously listed are quite different than Denison. I haven't been to all the schools that the previous poster listed, but schools that we visited that seemed similar to Denison, but easier to get into include: On a related note, here's an interesting article discussing Denison, Villanova, and the University of Miami (FL) becoming more selective schools. https://ctas.substack.com/p/the-2023-admissions-cycle-part-1 |
I went to a top 3 law school (the one with the palm trees . You'd be surprised how many of my classmates went to small private colleges -- not NESCAC schools or their peers -- but little places you've never even heard of. It's not where you start, it's how you finish.

Yes, undergrad is just the beginning of a journey. |
| Wittenberg University? |

OWU. Roanoke. Kalamazoo. McDaniel. Elon.
I don’t think Gettysburg or Dickinson are easier to get into than Denison. St Olaf, but I don’t think that’s easy to get into. Rhodes felt similar, but it’s more religious, and I think harder to get into. |
