Family friendly, WOTP neighborhoods - where should we look?

What you are describing is pretty much exactly Lyon Park in Arlington.

Go a little further up Connecticut Avenue. I was born in Bethesda, and raised in Chevy Chase, but have been thrilled to raise our kids in Kensington. The parades, the playgrounds, the pools, the neighborhoods - just what we wanted for our kids.

Can people just spell this $hit out? Too many acronyms on this website.

Yup. Or its neighbor Ashton Heights.

Nah. It's a way to prove you're "in".

If you don't know the WTOP acronym, then you will not have any sage advice to contribute to the discussion. Just move on.

Want a "community", not just a house (ie, somewhere neighbors know/talk to each other, kids outside walking around/playing, people walk their dogs, block parties, etc). Schools not an issue.

Woodley Park has all of this. We have a neighborhood block party on Sunday.

It's so boring, though! I don't think you can pick a waspier neighborhood.

Everyone knows it's a way to ID yourself as a Karen.

Anonymous wrote:Garrett Park is wonderful. Lots of events, both for adults and kids. Neighborhood pool (not insanely expensive, either) you don't get waitlisted for. Has a MARC station and is close to Red Line.

Garrett Park is way out there though. A huge difference from CCDC or Somerset in terms of proximity to town, redline or not.

True. Quick, easy ride on MARC to Union Station, though!

From OP’s list, do you think they are looking for edgy? You need to understand they want what you think is “boring.” Difficult strokes.

Woodley is basically Berkeley, California compared to Wesley Heights and the other neighborhoods from the OP’s list.

Could OP get a single family house for her budget in Woodley? I thought for $2-2.5M you can only get a nice row house in Woodley.

$2.2-2.5M will get you a detached house in Woodley if you’re okay with it needing some work. You need $3 million for it to be really nice.
