This. Parents, teachers, coaches, council, police and whole community needs to do better to solve teen crime. Its not only dangerous for the community but its not going to end well for these kids and their parents. Instead of victim and perpetrator mentality, teach kids responsibility, resilience, discipline, conscientiousness and compassion.

At least one person is working on it as we saw from the incident in Judiciary Square last night.

In this case, the victim was freed and it considered a justifiable shooting, so more good news.

Or, you know, 50 years older than that.

A teen was shot and killed last night trying to carjack in judiciary square. This will only increase. if authorities won’t protect us, we’ll do it ourselves.

Besides the fact that the crosswalk and stop sign are extremely clear at this intersection, signage is not required to make it clear that a driver shouldn't flee the scene of an accident.

Okay, but that has nothing to do with this post.

Not at all. If you worked in the public schools, you'd know that what the PP posted is true.

True.

WUSA reported that police needed a witness before they could arrest the driver. Since there is camera footage, I wonder they the police want the eyewitness first?

This doesn't have anything to do with "teen crime" but instead has everything to do with drivers feeling entitled to use their two ton steel murder machines as weapons simply because human beings were in the road in front of them. And because laws penalizing leaving the scene of a pedestrian-vehicular collision are extremely light.

I don’t think so.

I always assume under the influence. Because it's easier for me to believe that someone who is drunk or high could run into a family and then drive off than that a any kind of sober person could do it.
