I live in Bethesda, would need to drive and park, but have been curious if St James and Equinox give you access to the pool, sauna, etc. as part of your monthly membership fee or if you have to pay extra for that? Any input?

I recently toured Crunch and it felt like a dungeon to me. The old Sport & Health, now OneLife, near FH is worse (at least downstairs) but it’s closing soon once the new OneLife opens in Tenley. That one is supposed to be very nice with a saltwater pool. Lots of specials going on.

It’s closing? They have not informed the membership. Where did you learn it was closing?

Equinox - there is an indoor two lane lap pool and each locker room has a steam room. Both are included with your membership.

Are the lap lanes often crowded since there are only two? Or is it easy to swim there?

Now OneLife Bethesda. Way cheaper than Equinox and St. James with a pool and easy parking.

I was just there getting a tour. The new club opens in February and the old club will close and move members over to the new location.

Wow really? Have you not seen the signs for the new onelife everywhere in NW?

I know it's hard to tell but NWDC is not Bethesda. Why would they close Bethesda just because they're opening a DC location?? We've been members at OneLife for a decade. No way will I drive to Tenleytown. Tons of people walk or bike there, and my kids go after school from BCC.

The only one nearby is the Lawton community center. THey have a very basic gym in there.

I think you misread the earlier post. The Tenleytown Onelife is closing and new one opening near the new Wegman’s. Not Bethesda.

Newby wondering about a lower cost option in Bethesda, FH or Tenleytown. I hear Crunch is not nice and new Tenleytown place has weird room configuration.

It needs to be an ok place for older heart patient, not for a 20-something who spins 100 miles a minute. No need for a pool.

Thank you for suggestions.
