Is Julius West or Tilden better as a middle school?

I think all schools have a level of unhappiness post covid but if I had the choice, I'd go with JWMS.

JWMS has so many issues of bullying and harassment. The principal does nothing but offer COSA to victims. The abusers don’t even get detention. There is a large group of parents looking to go to the board.

I would like the principal and administration to be more focused on addressing the real problems as opposed to confiscating hoodies and phones in the hallway but I also understand that the ridiculous restorative justice program limits their ability to actually crack down on harmful behavior.

Vaping in MS now?

Kids smoked in middle school in the 80/90’s.

I know you’re only asking about the two schools (stay FAR away from Tilden), but Hoover is fantastic and I’d rank it above even JW.

Lol thank you for that amazing insight that the richest neighborhood school in the county would rank "even higher".

JW is a train wreck of a school. Lots of problem kids, lots of vaping, lots of bullying, and no real control of the situation.

Oh please. This family is looking into JW and Tilden- schools that have equally rich families. I just threw that in there because if they’re new to the area, Hoover is fantastic and worth a consideration. There are plenty of homes that are priced the same in all 3 catchment areas.

Obviously you cannot rely on these PPs who are just trying to protect their property values. They are clearly making things up.

JW is a well-run school with a good principal, staff, and nice students. But you should schedule a tour and see for yourself.

Between my two kids we've had over 30 teachers at Tilden, and have yet to have a truly bad one. We had a couple long-term subs that were a bit overwhelmed, but have had zero drama with any teachers.

? um.. look at the school profiles. Hoover has 10% FARMs kids; JWMS almost 40%. No, they don't have "equally rich families".
