| DH and I have our own business and we take minimal salaries to pay our HH bills and at the end of the year what’s left over in the business goes into SEP’s, 529’s and regular savings. Compared to our salaries our savings can be twice that or more. |
| We save about 72.5K into tax-advantaged spend about 30K more that we take home (funded by cash and other savings) so net-net about 20% savings. |

Age 43 Save 25% for retirement |
What on earth? |
| Early 40s, HHI 350k. We save 20% for retirement including matches, plus have a defined pension coming. We were saving closer to 40% before kids, and according to every calculator that exists, we could stop saving now for retirement and still coast to a happy retirement on gains, not including pension or SS. No plans to stop contributing but no concerns about undersaving either. |
| We are saving 30% of HHI around $300k. We are in our late 40s. Plan to reduce that when college expenses begin, but we've planned for that. Was feeling better when the market was higher. |
| Mid 40's save about %20 including matches. Dh will get a military benefit when he retires so that will help. We filled the kids 529s early so just letting them compound interest. I want to retire at 55 as well. |
| We save 20% mid 40s. |
Seconded. |
so.. the annual gifts covers the cost of living (gas, food, utilities?) what is your HHI? When did you start saving that now you have EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS (!!) in your retirement? perplexed by this strategy. When your parents pass away will you have an inheritance? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. |
| In sixties and nearing retirement. 20%. About 40% of that goes to a Roth 401k. |
| 35% mid fifties. Putting as much away before walking away. |
| Fed, and not a maxed out GS-15. I save 5% with a 55 match and a pension. |
Please call my CEO and tell him to offer a Roth401k option. I'm dying over here waiting for one. |
| 33% including matches. About 50. HHI of About 260k and above 1.5 saved. |
