Anyone been to Brazil lately?

I lived there too.

And this is exactly on point as long as you don't like:

Fine Arts
Museums
Concerts
Historical sites
Cultural Centers
Shopping
Food and restaurants
Hiking
Botanica gardens
Day trips
Walking tours

among other boring things . . .

NP: I agree with the previous poster, not a fan of São Paulo. Other cities have much more to offer. Personal preference, I prefer Salvador, Foz de Iguaçu, Recife and Rio. Amazônia is still in bucket list.

Everybody has their preferences. But please explain much more to offer. Salvador has the Pelourinho and the beach. A huge number of churches and historical sites. The beach and bay. Foz has the falls, the bird park and, if you are up for it, time with the Guarani. Other than the Belmond, not even a decent hotel or restaurant to be found. Rio? What? Some beaches a couple of forts. There are some very good restaurants and 3 nice hotels. Recife is charming (though full of drug crime - but that would impact you I ope), but if you are going that far north, I do hope you branched out a bit.

The point isn't what is the best city. The point is that it is nonsense to say that there is nothing to do in one of the world's largest cities. That also happens to be 500 years old. It's like saying that NYC or London or Paris or Rome has nothing to offer. Ludicrous.

Another idiotic take. You have to be incredibly dull and uncurious to find a city with 20 million people in the metro area as having "nothing to do or see."

I was in Rio several weeks ago. It was amazing. I was worried at first but realized that it's like other big cities. Be aware and stick to the safe areas and you'll be fine. I loved it!

Imagine being so ignorant and so boring to tell people that a metro area of 22 million people has nothing to do or see there. Love ignorant Americans kicking their own asses in spectacular fashion.
