Pickup owners . . . looking for input

We have several friends who have bought one after riding in ours. It is hard to park, but I assume you know that and will have that issue with any full-sized truck.

+1

I spent a ton of time comparing the major pickups recently (2023 models) and the Ram 1500 really started to pull away. So that what we got and it is AMAZING.

Super comfortable and luxurious inside, the tech is great but intuitive and manageable, the engine and acceleration feels like you’re driving a rocket ship (we got the V8 etorque). Towing anything at the weight you’re describing (sub 5000 lbs) is going to be a breeze.

I’d definitely recommend getting the largest gas tank option available on your trim.

We have one too. I initially balked at getting such a large truck but we needed it for towing and it's now our preferred family vehicle for long trips. It's really comfortable. We did have issues with the USB and ApplePlay and had to get the entire tech console replaced, which was inconvenient (it's not uncommon apparently), but other than that no regrets. Really never thought we would be a truck family but here we are.

For comfort. Ram and Ford are king!! Tacoma seats are unbearable. Both have nice options. And hold their value well. My 150 King Ranch is super comfortable on long road trips. And I actually enjoy the huge sunroof more in the winter than the summer. The 150 has the hottest seat warmers I've experienced!! More like heating pads!! After a day of hiking 3 hours away you feel better when you get out of the truck than when you got in!

I really don't understand modern pickup trucks. The cabs have gotten so big, and the beds so small, that they aren't practical for hauling much of anything. I did a side-by-side comparison in Home Depot parking lot between my Ford Focus and the behemoth pickup next to me, and my Focus had more room for carrying stuff than the truck.

You can carry more in your Focus than a full size truck with an eight foot bed? I’d pay to see you fit a full size refrigerator in your Focus.

0-60 in 7.7. You'd get smoked by a Honda Odyssey or Subaru Ascent.

Modern trucks can do it in <6 sec.

We're racing? Then get the Land Cruiser or a 4th gen 4Runner with the 5.6L V8. A truck is a ridiculous thing to own unless your work requires it.

OP, look around the places you want to go and talk to the people living the life you're trying to duplicate. I'd bet solid money there's an overabundance of 4Runners and other Toyota trucks/SUVs and there's a reason for that.

As far as reliability concerns with Ford, just a data point: we have a 30 year old Ford F150 with over 300K miles, that is still running and on the road.

Go for the 6 foot- you can comfortably sleep in the back.

Wow! For one we have horses. Two we have a boat. Trucks are used for pulling toys. I assume you do not have any toys??
