And another.

She made the process smooth and as efficient as possible, and gave us a report that felt personalized to our kid. She answered our questions patiently and thoroughly, and did a great job of making the kid feel encouraged about their future.

We went through the school counselor to get Vanderbilt forms completed. But Dr Ness didn’t seem concerned that teachers didn’t really report any major issues, because the testing, and her own observations, told a very different story. My kid had had 9 years to figure out how to pretend they were paying attention in class.

If you’re the poster from the other thread in teens - it blew my mind to learn that even if I got a private diagnosis, I still had to have the teachers complete Vanderbilts! Just be aware so you don’t waste time and money.

If you’re not the same person - sorry!!

Who told you you needed to still go through the pediatrician? We took our neuropsych evaluation to the psychiatrist for meds. He read the report and observed my child in our first appointment, but needed nothing else. We just informed the pediatrician. If you need services at school, you might have to jump through additional hoops, but that would be true regardless of where or how your child was diagnosed.

Neuropsych evaluation (Dr. Rao/Resnik & Associates, N Bethesda) and then to psychiatrist for meds.

HS took neuropsych report for 504 plan.

Due to timing, we did not have any teacher reports.

That is awesome!!!! We couldn't get a diagnosis for years because the Vanderbilts from the teachers wouldn't justify it. My kid sad quietly on the carpet in elementary school, totally inattentively, not learning at all, but not making any problems for the teachers.

+1. Love her. Our public school at the time read her first report and the special education lead there was very impressed with the report and with Dr. Cutner after the first IEP meeting. We are now returning for an updated eval 3 years later to prep for high school applications/accommodations.

Yes. I was just about to recommend her. She is great. I have used her for 2 kids.
