If DCUM is your main source of college admission’s information, you probably have a warped view of what it takes to get into a solid college.

No, you don’t need a 3.9 GPA & a 1530 SAT to get into a school with good professors and clean dorms.

Except for the top 75 or so, small colleges are struggling to fill their seats. And many universities with big names accept 80 or 90% of applicants. It really helps to be flexible about location. Expanding your search to the Midwest & South will help you find lots of reputable schools that would be happy to accept your kid.

PP adding--VCU too.

She could get into other LACs but wouldn't be likely to get as much merit aid at these, so it's also a question of how much you want to spend. Virginia has really excellent public schools for students with all range of grades and with a special ed interest, better to stay in state for licensure.
