Oh eff off. This is the special needs/disabilities forum. The reason we post here is b/c our kids present more challenges than the average kid, so your average advice (modeling -- really??) doesn't cut it. FWIW -- OP, my husband plays in two sports leagues, I play tennis, walk 10k steps a day and hike on the weekends and there are many days my AuDHD kid gets ZERO exercise (besides PE in school). We have a trampoline, which works sometimes. Other times it's a walk to Starbucks. We also pay to take him and friends to Zara Zone and places like that on the weekend. |

I give my kids a treat if they go on a walk - gummies, chocolate, lollipop. Or offer one if they ride bikes with me. Sometimes
That is the only way to get them outside. |
| Why is this so hard? I’m in same boat. Husband and I big athletes but can’t get our teen (ADHD/ASD) to move his body. Doesn’t even ride his bike or scooter anymore. Every year less and less. So frustrating bc he’s actually decent when he tries sports and has amazing balance for things like skateboarding and wakeboarding. It’s like he is “allergic” to anything that he has to use any physical exertion or may sweat a bit. So we make him go on the elliptical while he watches a show on non-PE days. It’s sad. |
| My DS loves the Peloton, oddly enough. He enjoys the numbers on the screen and prefers the open rides where you’re biking around Hawaii or whatever. |
| My 5th grade son walks home from school (1 mile) everyday. He loves the independence and trust we put in him. We love that he gets the exercise and time to decompress after school. He does a sport that has one day of practice and one game a week but the walking ensures exercise every day. We also have a backyard trampoline that he loves to use after school. |
