They have, thankfully, turned away from Lucy Caulkins and are following the Science of Reading (more phonics instruction). My younger child is really benefiting from the phonics instruction.


That’s great! What about a content rich/knowledge building curriculum? In Arlington they implemented CKLA, but there are others like Wit & Wisdom, EL education, Imagine Learning etc. I’m asking because I have a friend moving from NY to the area in January. They absolutely fell in love with Falls Church City. We live across the border in East Falls Church and told her that from what I heard Falls Church City is a wonderful place to live. She asked me a lot of specific questions about the schools that I don’t have the answer to.
