Which part? |
As a sailor, I would have loved it! |
Well, you can give your opinion of a school you didn’t attend and only visited without throwing in suicidal references. It added no value to the comments and seemed off-handed. Just think about it next time you type something like that out, please. |
I see nothing wrong with PP's post. It's just how she felt about the school and isolation. |
+1 |
I grew up down there. I got out at the first opportunity. Unless you sail I don't see why anyone would want to go. No place to intern or get a job. When I was in high school people drank because there was nothing else to do. |
Ever heard of hyperbole? |
I have heard drinking and drugs are big issues at SMCM because, as you said, there's nothing to do. |
My kids went there during Covid so that was a different experience but they hated it and transfered out asap |
Suicide is not a good reference for hyperbole. In honor of suicide prevention month, let’s all commit to do better when it comes to this topic. |
Drinking and drugs are present at every college. |
We visited. It was a very pretty campus. It is far off the beaten path for sure. My daughter said it felt like summer camp. I think they have a lot of students who learn to sail. I was impressed with the outreach by professors, who seemed kind and interested in their students. It is very rural. The dining hall food was delicious! |
I know one person who goes there who barely made it through high school.
This is a definite safety school for a solid B student. |
You have to really want rural and small. Beautiful campus and everybody we met were really nice. A lot of MoCo kids go there. My kid said absolutely not…too remote. |
DD applied. I thought the campus was beautiful and DD described it as like a nature center (a positive for her). Strong program for biology/environmental science. It had a lot of what she wanted. Only negative was no town to walk to. There is a shopping area not too far away but you really need a car to get there. I thought it would be a strong contender but she has two good friends there who are also biology majors (they like it) and she really did not want to go to college with friends. |
