| Anyone who stands behind DEI should be forced to fly on a plane piloted by a diversity hire, to have surgery performed by a diversity hire. |
| Who cares if it is a historical film? Hollywood has cast "non-racially" correct people as asians, Latins, and native Americans for years. Why can't black people play Danes? Who cares? I also think the Oscars (and all of these award shows) are pretty much irrelevant). Hardly anybody watches them. Even most of my genx friends aren't into them anymore. |
| I haven’t watched the Oscars in years and have no plans to do so in the future. I don’t need to spend 3 hour watching self-congratulatory BS by a group of spoiled, uneducated dimwits. |
Especially when there are so many spolied, uneducated dimwits right here on DCUM |
Why can’t the filmmakers make the movie they want to make? |
| Y’all can’t read and make things up. Their are diversity guidelines but it doesn’t mean you aren’t eligible for an Oscar if you don’t meet them. Get a life. |
Our VP is a diversity hire and she may run the country, there are 1,000,000 better leaders than her. Also the Supreme Court justice Brown was a diversity hire as Biden said he would only an AA woman. Basically he excluded all males and white women, Asian women, Latino women. There is no way she was the “most” qualified. |

The award shows are less relevant each year. There are so many other ways to be entertained. I watched a rugby podcast today with Mike Tindall, Princess Anne, Catherine snd William ahead of the Rugby tournament in France.
It was interesting and entertaining. YouTube content is often better than movies. With the strike and AI, Hollywood is putting itself out of business. Maybe an award for that! |
You among them, right. |

Forced diversity is racist and against the law. |
Riiiiiight a movie set in historical Denmark absolutely needs a 100% white camera crew, sound technicians, make-up artists, set crew etc. It just wouldn’t be authentic if everyone from the costume designer to the directors did not have blond hair. |

Good job falling for right wing propaganda.
"The Oscars are the latest in a long line of targets branded as “woke” over rules that are set to take place next year to encourage diversity among Best Picture nominees—but some right-wing critics are erroneously stating that all nominees must meet an onscreen diversity requirement, which is just one of several standards that could be met for eligibility." https://www.forbes.com/sites/conormurray/2023/06/20/anti-woke-critics-target-the-oscars-but-heres-what-its-new-diversity-rules-actually-require/?sh=6b18282c7801 |
Don't forget producers and marketing. Glad people are getting worked up about a lot of nothing. |
This is absolutely an illogical conclusion. You are presuming that a black person simply cannot be the most qualified person for a position if they are hired as part of a diversity quota. This makes no sense. Out of a field of qualified candidates, some may be black, some may be white. Hiring the black person does not negate the fact that they are qualified. And for something like the Supreme Court where candidates are amongst the most accomplished in the country, it is impossible to determine the “most” qualified, particularly since political affiliation is a major component of selection. |
