| It’s definitely disappointing. Red flag for sure. |

She pronounced it “Austim” ??
If so, that’s also a red flag. |
Sorry, typo there! |
yes, who says that anymore, it's ASD now... |
HAHA, I wish, the teacher sounds like a chatty cathy. It's a label, it's definitely a stigmatized label, and for all who claim austim is like a food allergy, you're delusional. it's confidential information period, no parent needs to know about other kid, unless their parent discloses it. |
It's actually "autistic" now. |
Since when, we just got a neuropsych and the report had ASD...I also read somewhere that the levels are not being taken away again, it's really confusing and the lingo keeps changing? |
DP. This isn’t necessarily a sign of inclusion. When my DH was in high school he had a teacher tell his entire class that “John Doe has autism. On special assembly days he’s just screaming and crying in the hallway because the schedule is different.” Nothing helps teen boys feel more included than your teacher telling your peers you cry at school…: |
Yes sorry - gave me a mild chuckle of a DH in preschool
This seems inappropriate to me. We had a classmate with autism in our preschool and it was clear she had some delays, had a shadow helper, etc. But the school never said anything - I learned about the diagnosis from her Mom. |
Yes, both of those things are private. It is a law - FERPA - that prohibits teachers from sharing this. |
