Managing Rest Stops

I’d need to stop about every 3 hours. No way I could go 6 without stopping.

Every 6 hours? Don’t you need to pee, stretch your legs eat or get gas? I’d say every 2.5-3 hours.

We stop every 2-3 hours normally--stretch, pee, walk around, get gas, eat, swap drivers, etc. Even when I drive solo or with another adult, I do this, for safety and comfort

As needed. My kid are good riders, and enjoy road trips. Part of that is the fact that we don’t make them as unpleasant as possible.

If someone needs to stop, we stop. We try to combine stops - so we eat or fill up the tank, or whatever.

With kids an 8 hour drive is never eight hours. It’s 10. A four hour drive is going to at least be 4.5. Just build that in, and mentally prepare for it.

I was having flashbacks to MY dad! It felt so mean when I had to pee so badly and he was a jerk about it and wouldn’t stop.

I can’t go longer than 2-3. I need to get out of the car for a min and usually use the bathroom. The rest of the family tells me they are fine but it’s me who needs the bathroom break.

We regularly do a 6 hour drive. Late ES kids. We usually stop once. I don't think we have ever made it through without stopping, and when they were younger we would stop more.

We do a 7 hour drive to visit in-laws -- we are now able to do this with one stop, but when he was smaller (elementary school age) it was 2 stops.

Stop as needed. If not for kids, then for me. Usually every 2-3 hours.

We never place a limit on how many stops or how long we travel before stopping. If someone needs to use the restroom, we stop.
I drive to a specific place at least once a month that's about 8 hours away. I typically stop 2-3 times during the drive.

Thankfully in our family, DH is the one who needs to pee at least every 3 hours so he always willing to stop. We are super quick about it though unless we are also eating, and even then pretty quick. We don’t do long drives over about 7-8 hours though.
